Acclaimed T&T author Michael Anthony has passed away at the age of 91.

A statement from Mr Anthony’s family says he died peacefully last night at home, surrounded by close relatives.

His family described him as an icon and a giant in the literary world, whose legacy is deeply woven into the tapestry of the nation.

They also later confirmed that a private funeral ceremony will be held to commemorate his life.

Michael Anthony is known for his books such as “Green Days by the River” and “The Year in San Fernando”.

In 2017, “Green Days by the River” was transformed into an award-winning feature film.
