Guyana has recorded 11 dengue deaths for 2023.

This is according to media release from that country’s Health Ministry.

The Ministry also noted that Guyana has recorded a total of 2,169 cases of the mosquito-borne disease with 239 patients hospitalized.

It says a Technical Working Group responsible for assessing, recommending and implementing actions to mitigate dengue has been activated.

It notes that measures have been increased across Guyana such as fogging, residual spraying, home inspections and distribution of larvicidal chemicals to communities.

The Ministry says a second cycle of fogging has commenced in most regions.
