Actor Sunny Deol believes its time to drop the name ‘Bollywood’.
The actor is doing well at the box office with his latest release “Gadar 2” which is set against the backdrop of the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971.
Given the nationalist theme, he believes all Indians should have great pride in being Indian.
Keeping with that, he says Hindi film industry should then be called Hindi Film Industry and not Bollywood.
He also doesn’t like the term Bollywood because he sees it as a knockoff of Hollywood: “We were first Hindi Cinema and we should be always proud of it. If the other Industry is called Hollywood, why should we be called Bollywood?”
According to reports, he also went on to say “I don’t understand why everyone is trying to copy them these days. We should rather be ourselves. We have the talent. The whole world stole our talent and has reached from where to where and we are trying to copy them. We should rather focus on developing our own cinema.”
