The TTPS is urging persons with Firearm Users Licenses, to follow the law as it relates to the use of their legal guns.

This call came today from Assistant Commissioner of Police, Crime, Kent Ghisyawan, during a media briefing to discuss ‘home invasions”.

Though no specific reference was made, this statement follows a comment from Opposition Kamla Persad-Bissessar that licensed firearm holders should “empty the whole clip” when confronted by bandits.

ACP Ghisyawan also commented on the status of a recent case in which a woman used her husband’s licensed firearm to fatally shoot a man who was trying to gain access to her home.

The ACP also assured that the TTPS was doing all within its capacity to identify suspects and bring them to justice.
