Road and water issues affect Tabaquite and Mayaro

As road issues continue to plague parts of Tabaquite, the area’s MP says a road maintenance schedule should be implemented.

Anita Haynes told 103.1FM News that such a schedule can provide a breakdown of the roads to be repaired.

Concerning a mudslide along the Guaracara/Tabaquite Road, Ms Haynes says while an excavator is stationed at the site to conduct works as needed, she is hoping for a permanent solution.

Meanwhile, the Works and Transport Ministry has begun repairs to the Manzanilla/Mayaro Road, which was damaged by flooding last year.

Minister Rohan Sinanan reportedly confirmed the cost of works at $70 million dollars for five kilometres.

However, Mayaro MP Rushton Paray is questioning the high cost.

He also told 103.1FM News that water woes continue to impact his constituency.
