A motorist has been hospitalized following an accident after the Chase Village flyover this morning.

According to reports, around 5:30am today a white Nissan truck stalled on the lay-by of the northbound lane of the highway in the vicinity of Seereram Brothers.

A white Nissan Murano collided with the stalled truck before hitting another vehicle.

The driver of the Murano was taken to hospital with a broken foot while the drivers of the other two vehicles were not injured.

Officers from the Freeport Highway Patrol and the Chaguanas Fire Station responded to the scene.

The accident caused heavy traffic heading north on the highway and also led to some traffic on the southbound carriageways.
