T&T wicket-keeper/batter Nicholas Pooran struck the highest score of the 2023 Major League Cricket to help his MI New York win the inaugural title.
Pooran smashed an unbeaten 137 from just 55 balls in Sunday’s final in Dallas, as New York chased 184 against Seattle Orcas.
Pooran hit 10 fours and 13 sixes as New York eased to 184/3 in 16 overs to be crowned MLC champs.
The left-handed batter ended with the most runs in the tournament – 388 from eight innings at a strike rate of 167.24.
New York’s Trent Boult, who took three wickets as Seattle made 183/9 batting first, ended the tournament with the most wickets – 22 from eight innings at an economy rate of 7.39.
