On Friday, Heritage Petroleum Company Limited (Heritage) responded to reports of hydrocarbon sightings at beaches along the southwest coast. The source of the hydrocarbon is yet to be determined. More than a hundred fisherfolk were affected.
The company’s Incident Management Team (IMT) has been initiated, and a Heritage Spill Response Team has been dispatched to undertake clean-up activities. Company officials are also engaging the local community.
The Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries (MEEI), the EMA and other marine stakeholders have been notified of the incident.
