Tabaquite MP Anita Haynes believes there has been mismanagement of budgetary allocations by the Education Ministry.

In a media release, the MP claims this is the root cause behind schools asking for financial contributions from parents.

Ms Haynes says this form of fundraising, which has been the topic of recent public discussions, is a direct reflection of the alleged mismanagement of allocations.

She notes that, when asked, school administrators explain that the funding they request from parents primarily goes towards maintenance and repairs, as well as teaching resources.

MP Haynes says the Education Minister is yet to address the shortage of resources faced by schools.
