3 Arrested in South for Drunk Driving, Larceny

Three men are expected to go before the courts early this week, two for drunk driving and one man was arrested for larceny.
Officers of Area South of the Central Division conducted an exercise in the early hours of this morning in the Couva Police District with special
attention placed on known hotspots.

During the exercise, officers had cause to stop several drivers and administered a field sobriety test, two men age 20 and 31 both from the
California area were found to be over the prescribed limit and they were taken to the Couva Station for processing.
In another incident officers on patrol along the Southern Main Road Couva observed a man with an instrument that is used to pick items out
of a storefront, officers approached the man and upon further investigation observed that the man had several items of clothing with
their tags still attached, the man was unable to provide an account for the items.

The 59-year-old man with of no fixed place of abode was taken to the station for processing. PC Mendoza is continuing the investigation
into this incident.

The exercise was coordinated by Snr Supt Simon, Supt Montrichard, ASP Bisnath, Insps Stewart, and Selvon with field operations under the
supervision of Insp Doodnath and Sgt (Ag.) Soodeen with assistance by officers of the Couva Chargeroom, Couva Criminal Investigations
Department and Central Division Task Force Area South.
