One man has been arrested following a shootout with police in Powder Magazine, Cocorite.

Officers conducting investigations last night into a report of a stolen vehicle spotted the vehicle speeding along the Western Main Road.

It was intercepted at Phase One, Powder Magazine Extension, where the occupants allegedly shot at the officers, prompting a return of fire.

One occupant exited the vehicle and escaped while police found another lying inside on the floor.

That suspect, a 20-year-old of St James, was arrested and one loaded pistol was seized.
