The South West Regional Health Authority says it is “aware of and working assiduously” to address an issue with the central air conditioning system at the Point Fortin Hospital.
The matter was raised yesterday by Oropouche West MP Dave Tancoo, who said the system has been down for over a month, affecting several departments.
In a statement to 103.1FM, the SWRHA insists there was minimal impact on service operations.
It adds that the non-functional system is confined to a few areas of the Hospital, with appropriate alternate cooling mechanisms implemented for the time being.
Mr Tancoo also raised allegations of mould on the ceiling of the hospital, however this was not referred to in the SWRHA’s statement.
