Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley has raised questions regarding the price of bread and doubles following cuts in flour prices.
Nutrimix and NFM recently reduced the price of their flour products, citing reductions in the cost of freight and other factors.
Following this, an article was published in which a bakery owner was quoted as saying that a lower flour price was not enough to reduce the cost of doubles and bread.
Dr Rowley shared a photo of this story on his Facebook page along with the caption: “So a higher flour price was enough to see an instant rise in the price of bread but a lower flour price is not enough to lower the price of doubles and bread?”
Citizens have since flooded the comments section on the post: some have applauded the observation, while others stated that the cost of other ingredients remain high.
