Couva North MP Ravi Ratiram is urging the Agriculture Minister to ensure support for Jerningham farmers who suffered flood losses in November 2022.

Mr Ratiram met with affected farmers yesterday, during which time they provided documents which stated why they were unable to receive compensation.

This included the investigating team stating that no flood damage was seen, as well as the farmer not being registered to the plot being assessed.

Mr Ratiram says the lack of compensation has hindered recovery efforts for the farmers and underscored their lack of confidence in the government’s ability to address their needs in times of crisis.
