Millions under flood watch in the north eastern U.S.

Millions are still under a flood watch as a deadly storm that has already caused widespread flooding continues to batter parts of the north-eastern US .

According to BBC News, flash flooding from excessive rainfall is expected across New England until Tuesday morning, with Vermont facing the highest risk.

Meanwhile, New York’s governor Kathy Hochul has declared a state of emergency in two counties.

Slow-moving showers capable of containing intense rainfall rates are expected to dump a few additional inches over far north-eastern New York state and parts of northern Vermont.

Some flooding has already occurred, rendering multiple areas inaccessible.

At least one person is also known to have died in New York state as flood waters swept through streets on Sunday.
