Emergency responders were called to the Freeman Road and Trantrill Road area in St Augustine this morning to rescue a motorist who became stranded while attempting to drive through flood waters.
103.1FM News learned of this from Chairman of the Tunapuna Piarco Regional Corporation, Josiah Austin.
We spoke to Mr Austin shortly before 12PM.
Mr Austin is urging persons not to attempt to drive through flood waters, and to avoid Freeman and Trantrill roads.
He also gave an update on the situation elsewhere in the Tunapuna Piarco region.
In some cases, he says water levels are rising.
Mr Austin says one shelter has been activated and is in use in Arouca, with attempts being made to also activate another shelter in St Helena.
