A national survey, through the Planning Ministry, is being done to guide how T&T manages and protects its biodiversity and environment.
The Ministry is seeking citizens’ feedback on what they value in nature, changes or issues in the environment and ways to better care for T&T’s biodiversity resources.
Planning Minister Kennedy Swaratsingh believes economic revitalisation is dependent on proper biodiversity and environmental management from all sectors in society.
Adding that the environment and climate change are among the Government’s primary mandates, he says through local, regional and international environmental agencies the Ministry is poised to ensure the sustainability of the country’s natural resources.
The third cycle of T&T’s National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan aims to provide a comprehensive framework for addressing biodiversity loss while promoting sustainable development.
This includes plans to mainstream biodiversity into national development planning, implementing actions for biodiversity conservation and ecosystem reliance and tackling key drivers of biodiversity loss.
