The ODPM is urging persons to prepare for the 2025 Atlantic Hurricane Season.
The season runs from June 1st to November 30th.
The ODPM is advising persons to:
- Develop a Family Emergency Plan: Ensure all family members know evacuation routes and emergency contacts.
- Assemble an Emergency Kit: Include essentials such as water, non-perishable food, medications, flashlights, batteries, and important documents.
- Secure Your Home: Clean drains, trim overhanging branches, and reinforce windows and doors.
- Stay Informed: Monitor official updates from the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service and ODPM.
Persons are also advised to keep a list of emergency contact numbers, including a number for the Disaster Management Unit for their relevant Municipal Corporation.

For the 2025 Hurricane Season, the US-based National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) says there is a 60% chance of an above-normal season.
It is forecasting a range of 13 to 19 total named storms, of which 6-10 are forecast to become hurricanes, including 3-5 major hurricanes.

The TTMS’ outlook says 1-5 named storms are likely in the Area of Interest, along with 0-2 hurricanes.
