Five men are in police custody following a robbery in the Couva district.
Around 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, officers were alerted about a robbery, as the suspects were reportedly fleeing north along the Uriah Butler Highway in a silver Nissan Tiida.
A swift interception near the Munroe Road Overpass was executed by Highway Patrol and ERP officers. The vehicle was successfully stopped, and all five male occupants—aged 17 to 25—were arrested without incident.
The suspects are from various communities, including Trincity, La Platta Gardens, Valencia, Arouca, and Sangre Grande. They’ve since been taken to the Chaguanas, Couva, and Freeport Police Stations, while the vehicle involved is being held at the Chaguanas Police Station.
The operation was coordinated by ACP Brian Soodeen, with support from senior officers and multiple Highway Patrol Units. Investigations are ongoing, led by PC Morrison of the Couva CID.
