Agriculture Minister Ravi Ratiram says work is continuing to address the impact of the recent floods.

Speaking with 103.1FM News, the Minister could not immediately give an estimate to the damages and losses incurred by farmers,

He assured however that assessments are ongoing.

Mr Ratiram said compensation for farmers will be available but emphasized that work is needed to revise the system.

Mr Ratiram said plans are also in the works for a comprehensive drainage plan to move communities from ‘flood prone’ to ‘flood resistant’.
