Health Minister concerned about hospital facilities in San Fernando

Health Minister Dr Lackram Bodoe is concerned about the state of hospital infrastructure in San Fernando and the challenging conditions faced by its workers.

Today, Dr Bodoe made an unannounced visit to the San Fernando General Hospital and the San Fernando Teaching Hospital.

During this time, he took note of “significant infrastructural deterioration” in several areas.

He also believes that staff members are operating under challenging conditions, which could potentially compromise their wellbeing as well as patient care.

Dr Bodoe also expressed disappointment that areas previously allocated for teaching and clinical training had been converted for administrative use, thereby depriving students of valuable hands-on learning opportunities in a clinical environment.

The Minister also observed the under-utilisation and visible decline of certain levels, such as level 18, raising broader concerns regarding maintenance and operational oversight.
