A tireless advocate for historical preservation deserving of the highest acclaim – these are the ways in which UNC Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar has described the late Professor Dr Brinsley Samaroo.
Dr Samaroo passed away over the weekend at the age of 84.
According to Mrs Persad-Bissessar, his legacy encompasses far more than a political career which saw him serve as an NAR MP, an Opposition senator and Minister of Food Production.
She believes his contributions as a historian truly define his life, delving into the rich history of T&T and working to preserve historical sites, understanding their significance for future generations.
The UNC Leader is calling on government to honour Dr Samaroo’s contributions.
Meanwhile, also sending condolences is The University of the West Indies which says it is deeply saddened by the loss of their former Head of the Department of History.
