Woman found dead after car-jacking, suspect shot dead by police

A 30-year-old woman is now dead after a suspected car-jacking, and one of the suspects in that incident has since been killed by police.

Reports say O’delle Lalman-Baptiste was in a van taken at gunpoint around 11pm on Friday in Carlson Field.

Her husband had stopped to urinate when a black SUV pulled up and two armed men announced a robbery.

Lalman-Baptiste’s body was reportedly found a short distance from where she was kidnapped.

A short while later, police intercepted the stolen van near the Eastern Correction Rehabilitation Centre, near Santa Rosa.

After the vehicle ran off the road, two men are said to have exited and opened fire on the officers.

They returned fire hitting one of the men who later died at hospital.

The second suspect remains at large.
