An Anti-Counterfeiting and Anti-Piracy Charter has been signed by the Anti-Illicit Trade Task Force to safeguard legitimate trade and consumer rights.
At yesterday’s signing, Permanent Secretary in the Trade Ministry Randall Karim said this was a key effort to reduce illicit trade and illegal practices that undermine legitimate businesses and erode investor confidence.
The Charter encourages signatories to take practical steps to combat counterfeiting and piracy, including initiating measures to prevent the sale of counterfeit goods and the importation and sale of devices adapted for piracy.
It was developed by the T&T Intellectual Property Office with technical support from the World Intellectual Property Organization.
