TTPS warns of fraudulent email being circulated

The TTPS says a fraudulent document accusing persons of criminal activity is being circulated via email.

The document bears the logos of the TTPS Cyber and Social Media Unit and the T&T Cybersecurity Incident Response Team.

In addition to accusing the recipient of criminal activity, it also threatens legal action and allegedly attempts to elicit a response under pressure.

The CSMU is actively investigating and also urging persons exercise caution when responding to suspicious emails.

It is also urging members of the public to verify the authenticity of any communication claiming to be from a Government or law enforcement agency, by contacting the organisation directly.
