CXC to introduce Caribbean Targeted Education Certificate

Later this year, CXC will introduce the Caribbean Targeted Education Certificate.

This was announced at a media conference today by CXC registrar Wayne Wesley.

The CTEC will see traditional CSEC and CAPE subjects split into modules in order to allow students to engage with the material at their own pace.

Mr Wesley said the syllabus will remain the same, with the subject to be awarded once the student achieves all the relevant modules.

He added that progress will not be lost, so if a student leaves after achieving some but not all the modules, they can later pick up where they left off.

Implementation is due to begin in September 2025, with the first CTEC certification to be issued in 2026.
