THA reminds of rules for Buccoo Reef Marine Park

The THA is reminding of rules that must be obeyed at the Buccoo Reef Marine Park.

The notice comes from the Division of Food Security, Natural Resources, the Environment and Sustainable Development, just ahead of the Easter holiday weekend.

It reminds that the Buccoo Reef Marine Park is a restricted marine area designated under the Marine Areas (Preservation and Enhancement) Act, Chapter 37:02.

All reef users, particularly reef tour boat operators and event promoters, are advised of the following:

Vessel  Requirements:

  • Vessels must be currently registered under the Motor Launches Act Ordinance Ch. 18, No.06
  • Operators must hold valid public/passenger liability insurance
  • All vessels must be crewed by qualified personnel with valid credentials

Buccoo Reef Marine Park (BRMP) Rules:

  • Operating hours: 10:00 am – 5:30 pm daily
  • No alcohol consumption or drug use
  • Noise levels (music volume) must not exceed 60 decibels
  • Jet skis are strictly prohibited (except for authorised transit)
  • Vessels must not exceed passenger capacity
  • Passengers are not allowed on upper decks while vessels are in motion, unless authorised
  • Stay within marked navigation channels
  • No fishing of any kind
  • Do not remove or interfere with mangroves, seabed, fish, or birds

Enforcement:

  • Cooperative patrols will be conducted by the Department, TTCG, and TTPS
  • Operators in breach of regulations will not be permitted within the BRMP
  • TTPS or TTCG may take legal action for violators

Special Events:

  • Any operator or event promoter wishing to use the park outside of the BRMP User Policy must apply in writing to the Division for consideration of exemptions

Visitors are also reminded to purchase entry tickets only from authorised booths:

  1. Booth #15 at Store Bay Beach Facility
  2. Blue Booth at Pigeon Point Heritage Park
