Guyana’s President Dr Irfaan Ali says the government will make a one-off payment for pensioners with insufficient NIS contributions.
In unveiling the plan this morning, he added payments will begin from tomorrow.
Pensioners will benefit from payments starting at $260,000 up to $650,000 depending on the amounts of contributions made.
Last year President Ali said the government would inject $10 billion into the national budget, to help pensioners facing hardship and assist those who did not meet the minimum requirement of 750 contributions.
