Politicians urged to improve care for special needs children

The parent of a special needs child is urging political parties in the upcoming elections to think about children living with autism and other developmental disorders.

In a heartfelt social media post written from the perspective of her 4-year-old daughter—who was diagnosed with severe autism, the mother highlights the daily struggles families like her’s face.

The post sheds light on clinic appointment dates years away, and a lack of necessary tools such as specialized schools, therapy centers, and healthcare services tailored to special needs children.

It also points out that no current political party manifesto includes provisions for this vulnerable community.

The message ends with a plea for help from those in authority to remember special needs kids too.

” Hello everyone ❤️💚💙🧡💛! My name is Neha. I am 4 years old . I was born in the heights of the pandemic . I was born with 5 functional fingers and two years later I was diagnosed with severe autism. Throughout my 4 years of life , I’ve been referred to clinics where the dates I get is basically years ahead of my age currently . No political party’s manifesto has special needs kids like myself included. We have no schools for special needs kids , no hospitals that caters to our needs and no therapy centers are set up for us . We need your help !! Please give us a chance . We are humans to ! 😢😢 Our parents are productive people in society and they are battling wars equivalent to that of soldiers!  Please share this post ‼️ It’s elections month . We are begging the people in authority to remember the special needs kids to !”
