161 candidates will contest the 2025 General Elections.

This updated information comes from the Election and Boundaries Commission, following Nominations Day today.

The majority of these candidates belong to 17 parties.

The following breakdown was given by the EBC:

There are also three independent candidates:

• Chaguanas East – Ernesto Singh
• Port of Spain North/St. Ann’s West – Vivian Johnson
• Tobago West – Leroy Richard Kelton George

The 2025 General Elections will take place on April 28th.

An initial statement from the EBC said that 160 candidates would contest the poll.

This was then corrected to 161 in a subsequent media release.
