Six people were killed and 39 tourists have been rescued after a submarine sank in the Red Sea, off Egypt today.
According to Reuters, The accident happened around one kilometre off the coast of Hurghada and preliminary investigations are continuing to determine the cause of the sinking.
The submarine, equipped for viewing Red Sea’s marine life, had 50 people onboard and authorities have confirmed that that no passengers or crew were missing.
The Governor for the Red Sea region Amr Hanafi stated the vessel held valid licences, however since the incident Sindbad, the company in charge of the submarine, has cancelled upcoming trips as investigations continue.
