An inmate of the Maximum Security Prison has been hospitalized after a stabbing incident.
Yesterday, officers were alerted to the unresponsive inmate in his cell, with the prison’s infirmary staff providing immediate aid.
The injured man was initially taken to the Arima General Hospital for urgent medical treatment, and subsequently transferred to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex.
There he underwent emergency surgery and is being closely monitored.
Officers from the Arouca Police Station are currently conducting investigations, along with the Prisons, to determine what transpired.
