UNC, NTA leaders respond to Election Day announcement

UNC Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar insists the 2025 Election date was hurriedly called to pre-empt the UNC’s legal action over Stuart Young’s swearing-in as Prime Minister.

Mr Young took his oath yesterday, with the UNC continuing to maintain that his appointment to the post was “illegal and unconstitutional”.

She adds that the UNC is ready and will do what the PNM’s MPs failed to do which is to “protect the country”.

103.1FM News understands Mrs Persad-Bissessar is currently meeting with other party members regarding the announcement of the Election date.

Meanwhile, NTA Leader Gary Griffith says his party is ready, having anticipated the date announced.

He also urged citizens to keep in mind that the election is not a war.

The 2025 General Election will be held on April 28th 2025.
