WASA: No timeline on restoration; 30% of supply going into repaired pipeline

WASA’s Acting CEO Kelvin Romain has not put a timeline on when people in parts of North Trinidad would receive a water supply, following a disruption this week.

There have been delays in restoring supply to the north distribution system, which runs from Oropune Gardens to St James, since a pipeline at the Caroni Water Treatment Plant ruptured on Tuesday.

Speaking today, Mr Romain explained the latest delay in getting taps flowing and gave an update.

Acting Director of Operations Shaira Ali said people in lower elevations would receive supply first.

Meanwhile, Mr Romain noted that while water is reintroduced to the repaired pipeline, another new pipeline will be constructed.

This disruption affects around 250,000 people.
