An Opposition MP is calling for more to be done by the Government to improve cancer awareness at the community level.

San Juan/Barataria MP Saddam Hosein spoke to 103.1FM News today, in the midst of a screening exercise conducted in collaboration with the T&T Cancer Society.

Held in recognition of International Women’s day, the initiative offered breast examinations and pap smears to constituents as part of a drive to promote women’s health and early detection.

Mr Hosein says the turnout showed that such community-oriented drives are important.

At the national level, Mr Hosein believes there is a need for improvement.
