About 19 of the murders recorded so far this year are believed to be gang-related.
That’s according to Acting Police Commissioner Junior Benjamin, who says 17 homicides are suspected to be due to altercations while 15 may be drug-related.
The probable causes were listed by Mr Benjamin, who says overall, there has been an incremental decline in murders.
The toll currently stands at 74, compared to 107 in the same period in 2024 and 116 in 2023.
As for serious crime, the Acting Top Cop says it has been declining over the past few years, with 1,726 so far in 2025; 2,388 in 2024 and 2,623 in 2023.
