Man fined $4,000 for illegal hunting

A 43-year-old Whiteland man has been fined $4,000 for violating local hunting laws.

Dwight Hacksaw was arrested in Tabaquite over the weekend after officers of the Praedial Larceny Squad allegedly found him hunting and in possession of an iguana and a lappe.

He appeared before a Couva Magistrate yesterday where he pleaded guilty to two counts of illegal hunting.

The Hunting Season closed on March 1st.

While hunting is now forbidden, persons still have until March 31st to remove all game animal carcasses or parts from their properties and personal possession.
