The 2025 Sea-Turtle Nesting Season begins tomorrow and will run until August 31st 2025.

The Agriculture Ministry says permits are required for entry to the three main nesting beaches at Fishing Pond, Matura, and Grande Rivière.

These are available at designated Forestry Division and District Revenue offices.

The five species of marine turtles visiting T&T shores this season are the leatherback, green turtle, loggerhead, olive ridley, and hawksbill.

These are classified as Environmentally Sensitive Species which are protected by law.

If violated, it carries a fine of $100,000 and/or two years imprisonment.
