Guyana will benefit from a USD$156 million investment from the World Bank for road infrastructure works.

The World Bank release said the Integrated Transport Corridors Project will prioritize road safety and the enhancement of Guyana’s transport network in selected regions.

This project will also initiate construction of new bridges to connect Guyana to Brazil and Suriname that can boost trade, tourism and agricultural productivity.

The release also highlighted the disadvantages of the current road conditions that limit access to essential services like healthcare and education and the isolation of rural communities.
