Barbados’ Customs has announced a crackdown on illegal toy guns.
Customs Comptroller Owen Holder said this followed growing concerns over the importation and sale of realistic toy weapons that violate regulations.
He noted not all toy guns are banned, only those designed to mimic real weapons too closely or fire projectiles are restricted.
This has reignited public debate on whether Barbados should impose a full ban on toy guns.
Last year, the TTPS issued a statement which cautioned the public about using gel blaster toy guns and reiterated that models which closely resemble real firearms are prohibited.
