Paria Fuel Trading says it has entered into an agreement with Jamaica’s Petrojam to expand its bunkering business.
It says the agreement is a six-month contract for “Very Low Sulphur Fuel Oil” with a maximum total volume of 540,000 barrels at an approximate cost of US$50.2 million dollars.
The inaugural shipment came in on February 1st, 2025.
Part of the arrangement is to secure a market for Petrojam’s fuel oil, while providing Paria with an opportunity to supply clean fuel to the Jamaican market.
Paria says, regarding any reference to the closure of the Pointe-a-Pierre refinery, the refinery was operating at a significant loss and had become unsustainable.
