Motions will be heard in Parliament on Wednesday regarding the nominations of Junior Benjamin and Curt Simon for the roles of Acting Police Commissioner and Acting Deputy Commissioner.

This follows the arrest of sitting commissioner Erla Harewood-Christopher last week over an investigation into the alleged importation of sniper rifles for the SSA.

Mrs Harewood-Christopher was released without charge on Sunday evening but reports soon followed that she was directed by the Police Service Commission to cease to discharge the duties of the Office of the Commissioner of Police.

The only official comment from the Police Service has been to dismiss reports that DCP Suzette Martin had claimed that Mrs Harewood-Christopher would not stay on as Top Cop.

A TTPS media briefing has been set for 1pm today.
