WASA: Further delays to repairs at Caroni WTP

WASA will be hosting a media briefing this morning, in light of what it says are “further delays” to repairs at the Caroni Water Treatment Plant.

This week, the water company announced a water disruption to several parts of north Trinidad due to a leaking transmission pipeline at the plant.

Initially, repairs were supposed to be completed yesterday morning but WASA noted that unforeseen delays pushed the completion time to 4pm yesterday.

However, this morning, a media invitation was sent for a briefing at 10am to discuss the ongoing repairs to the pipeline.

• Affected areas: Oropune Gardens, parts of St. Augustine, Curepe, Valsayn, St. Joseph, Champ Fleurs, Mt. Hope, Mt. Lambert
• Areas served by the Valsayn Booster Stations A & B: Saddle Road, San Juan, Bagatelle, Laventille Road, Febeau Village, Success Village, Malick, Trou Macaque, Santa Cruz
• Areas served by the El Socorro Booster Station: Barataria, Morvant, East Dry River, St. Barbs, Gonzales, Belmont, Port-of-Spain, Woodbrook, St. James, Cocorite, St. Anns, Cascade

Meanwhile, St Augustine MP Khadijah Ameen is calling on WASA to outsource services for truck borne water to assist people in her constituency whose tanks have run dry due to this disruption.

She says a three to five-day waiting period given to those who made requests for trunk borne water may not be practice.

She says areas in her constituency that have been affected include: Bamboo Settlements #2 and #3, Valsayn South, Spring Village, Curepe, St. Augustine South, Pasea, Oropune Gardens, Samaan Garden Trincity, Tacarigua, Dinsley Village and Piarco.

103.1FM News will bring you more information on this story following this morning’s media briefing by WASA.
