UWI lecturers march through campus

UWI lecturers staged another demonstration at the St Augustine Campus today to protest a delay in salary negotiations.

Their union, WIGUT, has reportedly accused the Finance Ministry of using stall tactics.

In December last year, UWI Principal Dr. Rose-Marie Belle Antoine indicated to the union that more information was needed from the Ministry to settle the outstanding talks.

Minister Colm Imbert also publicly commented in the past stating that he is not involved in the negotiations, as he is not the employer.

Today, the lecturers marched to the Principal’s office chanting “no money, no grades” and “two percent… indecent”.

They have also promised to intensify their efforts.
