Forecasters have warned that dangerous winds today in north-west Los Angeles could spread the fires which fire fighters have been battling.
BBC News says a red flag weather warning for wind gusts of up to 112 kph has begun.
Two large blazes and two smaller ones continue to burn, with the biggest, the Palisades Fire, which is 14% contained, destroying more than 23,000 acres.
The fires have killed at least 24 people, while 23 others are missing.
More than 90,000 people are under evacuation orders.
