Jones P. Madeira has passed away

Media stalwart Jones P. Madeira has passed away.

He was 80-years-old.

The news of his death was reportedly confirmed in a statement issued by his family.

His daughter, Lorilee Madeira-Williams, described her father as her “superman” and a “legend” who had a profound impact on those who knew him.

He started his media career in the early 1960s, and in the decades that followed, made his mark on local radio, television and newspapers.

He also once worked at BBC’s Caribbean Service.

Aside from journalism, Mr. Madeira also led the communications departments in entities such as the Judiciary and Health Ministry.

He was the recipient of a Chaconia Gold Medal, and an Honorary Doctor of Letters PhD from UTT.
