Guyana’s rice industry has seen a ‘record high’ with production reaching 725,282 tonnes in 2024.

Agriculture Minister Zulfikar Mustapha says the improved output reflects direct policies and investments made by the government.

The Guyana Chronicle reports that Guyana also exported 425,490 tonnes of rice and byproducts to 30 countries at a value of over US$245 million.

The Minister reportedly revealed that Africa has opened up as an additional market for Guyana, which has retained other markets across the region.
