EMA: Air quality levels unhealthy at Arima and POS stations

Air quality levels have moved to unhealthy levels according to readings from the EMA’s monitoring stations in Arima and Port of Spain.

In a media release, the EMA says the increase in particulate matter is attributed to Saharan dust and ranges between 163-158.

Everyone, in particular, sensitive groups including older adults, children and individuals with heart or lung disease, respiratory ailments and allergies are strongly advised to avoid prolonged or heavy exertion.

The level at the monitoring station in Point Lisas sits at 150 and is considered unhealthy for sensitive groups.
