T&TEC workers are planning to stage a demonstration this afternoon.

In a statement, the OWTU says this will take place at 4:30 pm at Transmission, Freeport.

It insists the peaceful picketing is based on rights given under the constitution, adding that since it is outside of working hours, it will not disrupt the company’s functions.

It says the action is to highlight issues being faced in the workplace, such as health and safety issues, the commission’s failure to negotiate in good faith and the proliferation of contractors in the commission.
