Grenada’s opposition New National Party has elected its first female political leader.

Emmalin Pierre served as the party’s Public Relations Officer before receiving the nod to lead the NNP, taking over from Dr Keith Mitchell.

Dr Mitchell will now serve as the party’s chairman, having led the NNP since 1989.
